Since we have received a lot of letters regarding finding instructors from all over Estonia, we decided to make an appeal. This appeal primarily concerns workshops, hobby circles, craft groups and people who would like and are willing to help those interested in Muhu embroidery. Do not hesitate, because every contact is important to those interested. If there are good people, then making and promoting crafts is sustainable.
We will do our own research and list the places where it is possible to learn this art. The order we have listed is not a ranking. Everyone will find something suitable for themselves.
- Hellamaa village center. This is a place where embroiderers from Muhu Island and the nimble fingers of the craft society "Oad ja Eed" traditionally gather every year from autumn to spring. Everyone is welcome.
- Muhu Museum. Courses are organized here, introducing various embroidery techniques.
- Mardi Gras in Tallinn. It has also become a traditional place where you can learn various techniques from Muhu masters. Masters from the craft society "Oad ja Eed".
- Workshop at Hansaplant. A regular place for those interested in Harju County to come once a year and ask and try out how this embroidery is done. The masters are from the craft society "Oad ja Eed".
- Männiku craft room. If you find yourself in Muhu, this is definitely a place you should visit. Master craftsman Sirje Tüür also organizes various workshops. And if you don't have time to learn, you should definitely check out the beautiful embroidery.
Now you have the opportunity too, if you are involved in the following activities: workshops, creativity rooms, craft circles, hobby groups, craft clubs, craft teacher or are ready to instruct interested parties who would like to learn embroidery. Share the information and write in the comments section of this topic. Be sure to include your region and contacts.
Everyone who adds their contacts and agrees to instruct interested people will receive a personal E-BOOK with Muhu patterns for teaching and practice. The patterns are in pdf format, which gives you the opportunity to print them repeatedly for your students.
And if you're not involved with them yourself, you definitely know of a place and people around your home who are willing to help. Be sure to also write down the place if you've already been somewhere or are still going.

Hello!
I would also like to use the patterns you have prepared as teaching material. I am currently teaching Muhu embroidery at the Tallinn Industrial Education Centre and I plan to make a quilt with Muhu embroidery from one of the pieces with my students. I would be very grateful for this teaching material, it would definitely make my work a lot easier.
The patterns I bought at the Mardi fair were also very useful...
I ordered Muhu embroidery to be learned in Pärnu under the guidance of Muhu masters.
Thanking you in advance

I took a craft course where you can learn exactly what kind of craft you want. I was interested in flower embroidery. The teacher Virve was very nice, kind and taught very well. She loves flower embroidery herself and she showed us her super beautiful quilts. I got an embroidery lesson from her and I am very grateful.
I dare to recommend!
I would like to learn how to make muhu patterns with your help.
Thanking you in advance and all the best,
Janne
Hello Janne,
Now there was a little confusion :) Who did you contact specifically? In this post, we invite instructors to let us know. Then there would be an opportunity to bring together different instructors and regions. Hands-on and hands-on instruction can be found from these contacts. Our role will remain to share patterns and inspiration. In addition, a large e-course is being prepared, which we hope to publish in the summer. It will contain a lot of patterns and tutorials.
The best way to follow our progress is in this post. https://muhutikand.ee/kuidas-olla-kursis-toimuvaga
Hello!
I became interested in the patterns of the muhu. What thread should I use for embroidery? Or is it more of a personal choice?
Cairo
Hello Kairi,
Choose the thread according to the base material. Most embroidery is done with fine wool thread.
There will be a gallery coming soon where you can learn how to embroider with floss.
Feel free to experiment :)
Hello. I am a 65 year old pensioner from Valgamaa. I make my own slippers and would be very grateful if I could get more patterns from somewhere. We don't do this kind of handicraft here. Thank you in advance Sirje Kama.
Hello Sirje,
Great. We'll send more information to your email.
